Title: Really good battlesites
Post by: BasiliskFang on December 06, 2012, 06:20:35 PM
Anyone else notice more battlesites that you can end up with more than 1 negate (using DO) and more than 2 avoids?

I think Avalon can get 3-4 avoids, Mojoworld can get 2 negates, not too many battlesites have BQ.

avalon- AD, AG, AY (e>8e grid), LO (special> draw), LB (battlesite card) = 5 avoids

mojoworld - longshot's DO then either x-b or mojo's AO.

Outback has -
AC, AD, AG, AO, BJ, DB, DO, EE, and EQ - all of which are defensively played (DT and CN also, but not as good as the OPD, I think).

It's generally considered the go-to defensive Battlesite. I never use it - because bad guys are losers  ;)

Is there a list of which codes can be played defensively anywhere, or do I have to check each code individually on the wiki?

Are there any cards that can be played defensively for one character but cannot for another (perhaps due to a condition or wording on the card)?

also- in the outback you have access to reavers: deathstrike.... the ultimate Anti-DoW tech!

I'm a fan of Krakoa as a battlesite. It's not fully decked out like Outback... but it's got some nice options for a team with it's own negates.

I agree. Krakoa is probably my favorite battle site that has no negate in it. the card/venture advantages are great!

I just looked today and I think Morlock Tunnels is sneaky good. First of all it's got Marauders, and Malice is a great OPD as it's basically a Web-Headed Wizard, but better, it's got a Negate, Storm's "only strength attacks may be used..."  gives you a multi-purpose avoid, and some immunity, and so does Beast's acrobatics. Calisto may not be a great card for Morlocks, but it's insane on a non strength team, then there's "Run from Slaughter" and Erg.

This place has a nice mix of offense and defense.

I think the versatility of the Onslaught's Citadel is unmatched by any other battlesite.

my favorite "lock" battlesite for the Quad-Negate deck (beast, darkbeast, reavers, donald peirce) is Sanctum Sanctorum.

i posted the original decklist and strat section here: http://www.beenhereandthere.com/SMF/deck-construction/white-king%27s-quad-negate/

Can anyone confirm that Avalon has the highest number of avoids on a battlesite at 5?  I checked, but I would like some confirmation.

Also, yeah, The Outback is incredible.

      4   4   4/6  8  6    8   6   6
i need to edit my project  :) before i post the other higher locations

Danger Room is a very good battlesite for it's versatility between offense and defense. In general, though, battlesites seem to be best used for their defense, so some of this offense is never game-realized. Otherwise, Danger Room is kinda lacking in any form of Venture or Card advantage type specials (see Krakoa)

I'm really digging Avalon as a super defense battlesite.

You can have five specials that have "avoid" in the title, you can avoid events, hit hard, add bonuses, card advantage, etc.  It's incredibly versatile.

id rather have 2 negates than specific battlesite and special avoids.

Good point.  However, I'm thinking of using Avalon in a variation of White Kings Quad Negate deck.  I'm wondering if having the extra negates and fewer avoids is better or worse.

I guess I really just took the team build and went from there.
