just want to confirm. if i use this special on a frontline character and i have a reserve character, do i get to pick who comes to the frontline or only who i used this on? is it forced or an optional choice?

Hi,

My interpretation is the character simply moves into the Reserve, which can in theory contain all four characters. You don't normally swap with any of the current Reserve characters unless the special says so. Think this is great card for lockout decks, BTW. I'll ask BBH to weigh in on this one.

You can have more than 1 character in reserve the same way that you can have 4 characters on the front line via an event.

This is Action Leader for reference, "Remove all hits from Target Teammates Permanent Record and Current Battle, and switch places with Reserve. May be played from Reserve. (OR)"

Since this IA code card does not have the "switch places with the reserve" effect, the character is simply moved into reserve.

Where it does get interesting, is the fact that you can choose who comes to the front line in the next battle.

If at the start of a battle where you have two characters in reserve and only one in the front line would you move both into play?

Yes*.

*Unless someone decides to use a BC special.
