When I discard a card, can it be placed or in hand? I couldn't find clarification anywhere.

you have to discard from your hand if your dupe is placed.

Usable would imply whatever cards that are available to Multiple Man, so his placed cards and whatever cards in hand.

In theory, could I reveal activators to meet the rerquirements of playing NR?

Yes, as well as any heroes - anything usable by Multiple Man.
