I was reading in another thread and hotobu commented that Chod for Starjammers was good if Spawn was in the deck.  I'm assuming he means because you can combine it with an 8 Energy power card.

Can you combine AE's with power cards that aren't usable by the character playing the AE?

doubt it
spawn would only be able use the AE if its from an activator
or
FIGHTING SPIRIT LIVES!
All Special cards in your hand may be played by any Hero, for remainder
            of battle.

Check the custom cards - # of specials per hero thread for the context... bout halfway down the page

Palatinus

The Ch'od AE is special because the card states "Teammate may combine with 1 Energy card for a single attack."

Fry me in lard... it DOES say teammate!  Thats sweet.

I was pretty sure you couldn't combine unusable power cards with AE's.

double-correct!

The biggest trouble with that AE is that it belongs to Starjammers, who have a full boatload of good Specials already and are usually a target because of it. I mean, I don't generally use more than 7, or so, Specials for someone. This is how they usually look for me:

one of their 8a is really 8I
they only have two 8

um, what? did you mean their 2/8 (KB)? because I wouldn't ever use that, myself. It goes directly to permanent record (as opposed to, say, Gambit's EJ, which I use a lot). I did, in fact, mean that I'd use 3 of their HN Special.

Also, it's worth noting, that in the Marvels they also got a sa-weet Special that I use all of the time (since so many people use Any's now).

If the KB counted for Venture, there would be a lot more of them used across the board (whether the 2/8 or the 7/3 version).

I can't imagine why they made the ones that don't count to venture.  That's just silly.

Some people. Like myself don't play to win by venture. Strategic retreats :) but I'd never put that card in for star jammers.  They have way too many better cards.

well that and two tw attacks=c ko

well, it's true. I mean, if your opponent doesn't have the means to block a 2, then yes, it gets you > 1/3 closer to a KO. but so does their HN, which is a lot harder to block...
