I thought it'd be cool if there was a chat room to pop into while playing games, for small questions and whatnot.  A quick IRC channel would be all that's needed. Anything like that going on? If not I'd be happy to pick a server and start one up, make it official.

It looks like I may be able to add a chat module to this forum software.  I'm not sure what it would be like or how well it would work, but if people are interested I can definitely test it out.

If the chat module is embedded IRC that'd be great. IRC is a bit more universal than a custom option.

I don't use IRC so I don't know much about it.  Would that module require an additional program to be installed?

Installation looks like tossing in a few files in the right place, and editing a handful of others as described.

You can look at alternatives, I've just seen Mibbit elsewhere and think it works well enough.

I see how the module installs, but do you know if it needs a separate irc program installed on the user's computer to work?

Nope, shouldn't need anything on the users end.

Well, I'll test it out and see what I come up with.  It still looks like no one else wants to weigh in though.
