Onslaught Deck

If I were to build another Onslaught Deck to play competitively with I would probably go with something like:

X-Man - Onslaught - Mr. Fantastic

           Dr. Strange (with Marvels)

With a team like this Onslaught isn't as much of a standout target, which would probably allow you to get away with 2 Merciless Conquerors.

The makings of a good Onslaught deck should get the most use out of MC, it's really his most abusive special.  Otherwise you may as well chuck Spawn in there, which is what most people ended up doing in the end.

Onslaught

After crawling out of a lab with tattered clothing and a face full of soot, I came to the conclusion a while back that the "best" Onslaught team is:

Bastion, Prof X, Donald Pierce, Onslaught (R) w/ Any Heroes. I almost always have some sort of Onslaught deck on hand, but if I were to use him in a theoretical tournament situation it would be with this team.

Of coooouuurse. Lol!

I think those two deck propositions, Onslaught/Hot Rod, are worth a "verses" test for "supreme-onslaught-deck".  Dun! Dun! Duuuuun! *dramatic music*

Onslaught in Reserve reminds me of that deck Cherie Briggs was running at the 1997 Nationals.

I can see that deck working pretty well simply by the effect of "Addition by Subtraction."

Even though you can't run either of the 2 best battlesites, you can get away with a fair amount of defense with Any Heroes because you don't need to live through a potential 1st turn Devourer, or to defend Onslaught.

Also if you don't use it yourself, you can easily shrug off the KO event which is nice.

And see, this is something that holds me back in Overpower: My conscience!
I simply cannot put Professor X on a team with Onslaught. Or Professor X on a team with Bastion, for that matter. Maybe I can envision some situation where ProfX and Donald Pierce are teamed, but otherwise,
"It's no good, I can't do it!"
(Solid Snake, when you try to shoot Gray Fox during his final monologue MGS1  :)).

Don't doubt the ability of the comics to put something like this or more ridiculous together.  When looking at the Emotional Outburst card for Storm today I was reminded of this time when Doctor Doom was turning Storm into a statue which triggered her claustrophobia and caused her to whip up a seriously dangerous Storm (much to Doom's surprise.  8 Intellect.  Nice.) which was starting to threaten the castle.  So Doom throws some ball filled with the magical power of science at her to turn her back to human so she would stop making the storm.  Surprisingly though, she didn't just calm down and make the weather all nice.  She actually got madder and made the storm worse!  (Seriously Doc Doom.  A Sentinel could have come up with a better way to handle that.)

So I'm thinking, wait, what was the point of turning her into a statue again?  Wait, why can someone be turned into a statue?  Wait, why does throwing that ball undo the statufication?  Comics can be dumb sometimes.
