Spider-Ham

Hey guys, I have another question for you all.

A small handful of characters have a card like this:

TAPPING THE SPEED FORCE (JA) <JL> {VR} [OPD]
Discard one Energy Power card usable by The Flash to draw 4 cards from top of the Draw Pile. May keep duplicates.

So my question is, where does the discarded Energy Power card have to come from? Hand? Placed? Either?

I always assumed it was from hand until my opponent tried discarding a placed card to it one time.

Most cards tell you where to discard your cards from e.g.:

POWER LEECH (BY) <IQ> {VR} [OPD]
Opponent must immediately discard 4 cards of opponent's choice with icon of Leech's choice currently placed or in hand.

POWER HUNGRY MONSTERS (BY) <IQ> {VR} [OPD]
Opponent must immediately discard all cards with an Energy icon currently held in hand.

ABSORB SOUND (BY) <CL> {R} [OPD]
Dazzler must discard all cards with an Energy icon currently in Hand. Opponent must discard all cards with an Energy icon currently Placed and in Hand.

Another exception to this consistency is this card:

DISSOLVING CORPSES (JJ) <MN> {VR} [OPD]
Discard 1 Power card usable by The Hand to remove all Hits from The Hand's Permanent Record of equal or lesser value.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Jack

Usually when a special asks for a discard and doesn't specify, it is usually from hand. It is similar to "play with a power card..." but the mentioned text would lose a power card if the special were negated (as opposed to this one, where if the special is not negated, the rest of the effect follows).

Thanks for the prompt reply, Jack! :)

@Steve, I'm quite certain you have to discard the unusables, I just can't remember where I got that piece of info from to prove it to you.

Jack

Unusables are always discarded unless noted by the card or allowed by another card (Bullseye's Everything's a Weapon).
