Yes, identical in every possible way.

Wow I'm getting flash backs on why I stopped playing this game years ago. Has there ever been a ruling on the original question posed? Because my opinion would be that it can only discard cards placed on the "Placement" segment of the turn. Meaning No you can't discard from the battlesite because those cards start there as a draw pile to choose from. Never do you place cards to it. I hate when what is written on the card gets twisted to be played completely different than what is written on the card. Case in point, nowhere on Invisible Womans FS card does it say "Negate". So why is it I can use this defensibly to defend an opponents AI? This card was created as an "Action" card not a defensive card. Just my 2 cents....

The same reason why (non "Only Specials..") CD specials can block a Power Leech.

That reason being? I don't agree with that rule either. If the CD card was meant to block an attack it would have been written, Avoid one attack, only attacks made with a _____ icon can be made against ____ for remainder of battle. CD is also an "Action" card not a defensive card. As much as I love it, in the end this game failed, and it did so because of constant misinterpretation and re-wording of cards destroyed its credibility. Who would drive or fly hours spend $100's of dollars to get to a tournament just to loose to a rule change. I know I watched the slow demise at all the Regional and National tournaments.

I never claimed to know the reason, I just accepted it because I got into the game well after the tournament days.

Count me in as agreeing with this. Its what makes this game tough to teach to new players in my opinion.

Problem is we are using rules made by the people, in my opinion, who ruined the game in the first place. To fix, there would have to be a whole new set of rules made and made with common sense.

At this point I'm waiting for someone to ask weather an AI or DY can remove a Hero Card, as it's placed on the table... :o

I'm with HW, Nate, and Steve.

I think the meta/eratta system can be overwhelming - the tournament guide was intended to be a reference of how cards worked, and what card types were offensive or defensive.

Without a governing body, it makes it difficult to impose rule changes.  I think after almost 20 years of card collecting, people (and I'm no exception) would be sad to see a card they like become less powerful, or a card that they gave away in droves become more powerful.

While I agree that in any game some card mechanics may be broken, I'm not sure I understand why HQ cards are OPD or Power Leech has to target a hero.  Do you know why the inherent on the baxter building is so awesome?  Because FF is a four hero team and this is a game where you make a four hero team.  Of course the bonus for FF is Wayyyy better than the team of 4 randoms who may or may not have ever gone into a sewer, lived in New York City, or read the Daily Bugle...
