CJ and venture

If a CJ card is used, and your venture goes from 2 to 3, would that mean the oppenent gets to draw a card? Or is it too late since venture was already decided and cards have aready (or not) been drawn?

You only get to pick up for the 3rd+ venture during the venture phase.
