So, in my Who do you play in Reserve Thread I made a comment about a friend of mine, that I am getting to play the game, prefering to play with a DC Team (he likes DC more than Marvel). We are finally getting together next week to play our first match. He has been looking through what I have plus a few things online and he finally told me to just make him a team. The only requirements that he asked for was that Joker was on the team and that it was all DC if possible.

I like DC and Marvel but I use predominately Marvel based teams (with some IM/DC) so an all DC team seemed a little hard for me to balance out. Below I posted the all DC Team that I am thinking about for him as well as the Marvel team that I am thinking about for me (I am trying to avoid my preset teams i.e. Cable/Deadpool, Black King/Hellfire Club....my favorites, etc).

DC Team for him:

Front Line:                                            Reserve:
Joker       Riddler      Robin                        The Flash
E - 4        E - 3         E - 3                           E - 6
F - 5        F - 5          F - 6                           F - 6
S - 3        S - 3         S - 2                           S - 4
I - 7         I - 7          I - 7                            I - 3

And this team for me:

Front Line:                                                   Reserve:
X-Babies     Shadowcat      Black Widow          Cyclops
E - 5            E - 6                E - 4                       E - 7
F - 5            F - 3                 F - 7                       F - 4
S - 4            S - 3                S - 3                       S - 4
I - 1             I - 6                 I - 6                       I - 5

Both teams are at 73. I would appreciate any feedback on whether or not you think these teams look balanced or are in my favor or anything else.....I want this to be as fair as possible for his first match.

just based on the line ups, I'd say they look fairly balanced. The Marvel deck looks a bit stronger, but it's also going to come down to builds. DC had a problem of pretty weak defense, though, and the team you built for him won't be able to do much about some of the Marvel team's better attacks  :-\

I was worried about that: especially with X-Babies and Black Widow having some good shots potentially right out the gate.   :-\

Any thoughts on a varient team for me or him - or even just a character or two replacement?

Just keep in mind - I am limited on my DC stocks  :-\

Well... that's a tricky thing for me to envision, honestly. I don't often think of nerfing a deck to level competition, I usually think of raising the lower-tier team. I mean, I can certainly give you a list of some of the weakest Marvel characters, to give you some ideas...

Also, are you trying to avoid giving your friend a max-8? because even just doing that would raise his team up a notch...

of course the hardest part is the reservist

Jesse

Yeah, I'm used to just building my team - the whole "balance two sides" isnt the most fun in the world but I really dont want to demolish him the first day.

I didn't even think about it. I just started putting together people thst I know he likes and tried to balance from that point. I could easily add in a couple other guys for him.

Sadly I have no Luthor 8I, No Brainiac 8E, No Doomsday 8S, No The Ray 8E

I do have Azrael and Wonder Woman 8F. Of note, I do have Ra's as well - I thought about putting him in but wasn't sure if he'd be a good fit.  Any thoughts on a team that consists of Joker, Ra's, Azrael and probably Flash for reserve? That'd knock on the door and hit the 76 on the head.  Even sounds better.

What do you guys think?

For my team or for the team I'm making for him?

that line up is looking better, I think.

From your side, the best way to make your team tuned-down is to build it weaker and don't worry about the roster so much. You know, maybe only include 1 negate for X-babies, or maybe only 1 teammate avoid for B.Widow and S.Cat...? I don't know exactly where to go with that  :-\

So the random marvel teamup and the new DC team look ok to face each other?

If you have Neron, I'd drop Ra's and Azrael and put Neron and Riddler back in.  With Riddler's Death Trap, he'll have the most difficult to defend numeric attack in the game, Master of Misdirection could even up the field, plus Neron brings a lot of interesting tricks to the table.  Ra's doesn't bring a lot, imo.  The CC is nice, but not game breaking, and the Riddler still brings one to the table, where as Your Heart's Desire could be brutal. Azrael is solid, but if Joker is a must have, you'd be better off building on his strengths instead of just tossing a character with an 8 in there.  At least Neron backs up the Int stat, as well as offers some nicer tricks then Ra's.  Just my 2 cents.

That's a good case for Neron. I think Joker and Ra's might be a toss up (mostly because he brings good Teamworks from his dual grid), but there's cost to consider.
