I still like the bottom left one the most

Jack

We might do two releases of Galactus, one inside the Marvels set and one as a promotional card to be distributed at a later date (possibly at large meetup/tournaments). I'll talk to BBH this Saturday to work things out.

so, since getting a job as a warehouse handler, my work lends zero time to surfin' the 'net, so I've barely found any time to get online anywhere, and certainly very little time for OP.

First let me say - congratulations on finishing school! very commendable indeed!

i'm glad I made the time to read through this particular thread tonight! This work looks amazing so far, Jack! My only thoughts are that I would love a second card for the OJ Specials (domino and shadowcat) because they present a very clear, original strategy (new via Marvels, where you have a way to directly attack the Battlesite without losing venture). Otherwise, I'd say the distribution of cards you have looks good (outside the Heroes/Specials, a Marvel 8A, 6A, and 5M are the most interesting to me to include).

As for the artwork, I know your pain. I printed my own set of marvels a long time ago (using name badge labels), and I just took anything I could find on the 'net, not worrying about era or quality at all (just looking for images that "match" the card effect) and it still took me FOREVER!! I guess you and BBH have one major thing working in your favor - a comic collection. I really never had much of a collection of my own (just a few TPB and random issues of X-men books... okay not random, the ones that had Gambit on the covers  ;D )

anyway, I'd love to get a set whenever it's finished. I'll keep tabs on it still, even if I can't contribute or comment  :P

Jack

Sorry, it's a really busy time in my life right now.

Jack

Gonna give everyone an update on what's happening.

We had our meetup this past Saturday and talked about the Marvels and how we're going to get it printed.

Firstly, we're going to be printing roughly 144 cards in our "set". The list of which cards will be included will be posted once BBH looks it over.

Secondly, we're going to be doing a test run of the cards to make sure we don't run into mistakes with the image exporting and image sizes when printing off our batch. That cost will be pushed onto the overall cost of the cards -- and it will be minimal (~50 cents/deck).

Thirdly, the cost of the cards will be less than $13 USD prior to shipping. We'll know final prizes once we place the order. All orders will require shipping with tracking unless you pick it up in person at one of our Toronto meetups/tournaments.

Thirdly point five, we will limit the number of decks per person as stated previously. We will post that limit after discussion. This will also be a one-time print run and we're likely capping the total number we're printing to 100. Sets printed after that will have blank imagery for the character picture -- if we decide to do any. The images released online will have full colour images.

--

I'm expecting to get the sample deck in by mid September and that should coincide with the completion of cards. They will be up for review to select members of the community and sent to the printers. We expect to receive them before the October Toronto tournament which is happening on Saturday October 20 at a location to be determined.

--

And here's a version of Beyonder which won't be included in the set of Marvels because it will interfere with the market for Beyonders. We have an idea for the card though... details to be announced soon.

Picture soon...

Have you put any thought into doing a "collector's set" that is just one of each card?  I don't know how much of a pain it would be from a logistics standpoint, but I imagine it would cut down on the printing costs if enough people just want a set for collection purposes.  I'm not sure about everyone else here, but I don't play in person anymore so I don't need more than one of each card and would be more than happy to donate any duplicates to those that would want them if it would help bring costs down for everyone.

As for the Galactus heroes, my votes are for top left, bottom left, and top right in that order.

I've been catching up on comics from the desired era lately and have been keeping my eyes peeled for ideal artwork, but I haven't really found anything worthwhile.  Maybe I'm just reading the wrong titles :P.  If I do find anything though I'll be sure to speak up.

I see what you are saying but personaly I would like a play set just incase :)

Jack

Unless there is high demand, >50 or so people, the cost of doing a set with only one of each card would cost more than the 144 cards. Right now, we're probably near 10 cents/card which is ideal for a small run. As for donating the duplicates, I'll have to talk about it with BBH.

Galactus would be included for sure, and I'll have to tally the votes up to see which one to include. Ideally it would be one of the bottom 4 since they were from comic books so it would keep a consistent feel with the rest of the set.

We're also including the Any Power Teamwork and possibly the Avenger's ID since there's absolutely no market to ruin if we were to introduce those cards.

Thanks for the update, Jack.

Not cool to tease us with that Beyonder card when we can't have it included.  :P Haha. J/k

I second that, even though I have a Beyonder card, I would still like one in the Marvels set.
